Getting Started
{Metadata:}
Metadata is the hidden information in your webpage that helps search engines find and categorize your site. Some of this information will be visible in a search results page. To help me set this up:
1. Write a list of key words that describe your business and its purpose. It can be as long as you like.
2. Write a brief description of yourself and your business. Consider as you write: What can potential visitors expect to find at your website? What is your objective in attracting people to visit your site? What do you think will draw them there? If you were in their shoes, doing a Google search for a business like yours, what would encourage you to click that link before any others? What feedback have you gotten from your local customers/clients describing what makes you and your work stand out against your competition?
Don't' be too self-conscious about your writing skills, and if you're not sure about your wording, don't worry. I can edit your text so we get the point across clearly.
3. Write an outline indicating how your site's content will be organized. You don't have to worry about all the text yet. I'll be using this outline to create the navigation menus and headings while you write out the information you want to include.
Once your first page is complete and uploaded to the hosting server, I'll submit your site to the three major search engines: Google, Yahoo, and MSN. It can take a while for you to show up in the search results, but by the time your site is complete, the search engines will know where you are and what your website is about so people can find it.
